  • # 523 - A change in life

I am all set up in my new apartment. It's a really nice place. Much more organised than the old one. And just newer and better. A really good apartment, just 15 minutes from the town centre by bike. I guess I have been lucky to get this place. But I just have to say that going from 70 people around you 24 hrs a day to being completely alone is somewhat of a shock. So I feel happy, but it's a mixed happiness. It's only been four days yet. I need to find my feet. Of course I miss Kristian a lot. But he found an apartment over here too, which he will move into in less than a month - yay! Then we can be together more often again. Last I saw him was Monday.

... It's strange that I have to cook my own food again. I so loved that it was just served on the buffet in school!

... I wonder what my summerjob will be like. I just really hope that I can find my way around town to all the apartments, that I am going to clean. I just hope the people, who live there, will be nice to me. I just hope that I can work fast enough to stay on schedule. Alright, don't panic *takes a deep breath*.

This evening I watched Tales From Earthsea by Goro Miyazaki on DVD. It was really, really good! Five stars! Definitely good for many re-watches. I can't wait to watch it with Kristian. I think he will love it, for several reasons: 1) It's a Studio Ghibli production, 2) There is deep affection between a man and a woman, but without sex, 3) It's just really good!

In the movie, a girl Therru sings a beautiful song for Arren, the main character. I am now going to translate the Danish translation into English, so it will probably not be the most accurate translation, but I hope, that you will like it anyway...

    Sparrow Hawk

    Up above the clouds
    at the time of dusk
    the hawk flies around,
    always alone.
    I can feel his sorrow.
    In the quiet breeze
    his wings embraces the sky.
Never he finds peace and rest.

    No one knows his heart
because his heart is the hawk's,
    no one knows his heart.
    Sorrow circles on the sky.

    Along empty roads
    and across endless fields
    we walk side by side.
    I can feel your loneliness,
the cikadas sing in the grass.
You walk by my side here on the road
    but we say nothing.

    No one knows my heart,
    my heart, that wanders alone,
    that no one knows,
and whose loneliness no one comprehends.
